One of the region’s foremost symphonic wind bands, Swindon Concert Band was established in 1971 and attracts players from an approximately 30-mile radius. We have about 40 members of all ages and are keen to welcome prospective new players.
Rehearsing Monday evenings at Park South Community Centre in Swindon, the band puts on about five concerts a year, usually in support of local charities, and performs all over Wiltshire and the surrounding area. We have an extensive library of over 1000 pieces and our repertoire ranges from classical and traditional symphonic wind band music to jazz and favourites from the world of stage and screen.
As well as our busy concert programme, we enjoy participating from time to time in the National Concert Band Festival, where in 2011 we were proud to receive gold awards at both the 2010/11 National Finals at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, and also at the 2011/12 regional event in Cheltenham.
